چکیده

Abstract Developers reuse source code files in other project and library to develop large software efficiently. A license of the software must meet their licenses. In this paper, we extract inclusion order among software licenses from open source software. We conducted empirical study using a set of source packages in Fedora 17 as a set of open source software. The result shows that we can extract inclusion order from source package and we can connect these relations. In addition, based on these inclusion relations, we also show that license inconsistency may occur.

The Challenge of Heterogeneously Licensed Systems in Open Architecture Software Ecosystems

The role of software ecosystems in the development and evolution of open architecture systems has received insufficient consideration. Such systems are composed of heterogeneously-licensed components, open source or proprietary or both, in an architecture in which evolution can occur by evolving existing components or by replacing them. But this may result in possible license conflicts and orga...

An Empirical Study of the Reuse of Software Licensed under the GNU General Public License

Software licensing is a complex issue in free and open source software (FOSS), specially when it involves the redistribution of derived works. The creation of derivative works created from components with different FOSS licenses poses complex challenges, particularly when one of the components is licensed under the terms of one of the versions of the GNU General Public License (GPL). Dual Licensing in Open Source Software Markets * Stefano Comino †

In this paper we present a theoretical model to study the characteristics and the commercial sustainability of dual licensing, an open source (OS) business strategy that has gained popularity among software vendors. With dual licensing, a firm releases the same software product under both a traditional proprietary license and an open source one. We show that the decision to employ a dual licens...
